WARNING: SOME MAY NOT RELATE TO THIS
DOSAGE: TAKE IT IF YOU DO (I'm overdosing right now)
"Often, wives complain about things that have nothing to do with the unmet need motivating them to complain to begin with. A wife may attack a single behavior in a man like watching TV too much. It's not so much she cares about the TV, it's that on some level she feels the TV is competing with her. Or a wife might complain, 'You don't do enough around the house!' For a woman, the whole of life is like a junior high school dance where she stands alone thinking to herself, I want to dance. But what she really means is, I want somebody to choose me!" (pages 92, 93 Laughing Your Way to a Better Marriage)
Ok, it's me. I admit. I want my husband to pick me at times and that is why I compete for his attention by saying..."you never help around here (he does), why am I always the one doing everything (I'm not), what is so important on TV that you can't turn off (I watch it too)! It's just normal for me to desire the act of my husband choosing me in certain situations and competing for his attention, but he will not always choose me, he's just a man.
"The act of choosing her reaffirms to her your love and commitment (page 96)." It is my prayer that my husband and yours will understand the need of affirmation.
