Manners Matter

It is important to me to teach my children manners! This week we are discovering Psalms 19:4 "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O Lord." Saying things like yes mam, please, thank you, your welcome, may I and excuse me are words I pray they keep in their vocabulary. Being aware of how they speak is definitely a lesson in manners.

My 6 and 7 year old were screaming at each other yesterday and I asked them "which of you are going to try to live in harmony with your sister? 6 year old says NOT ME! I said "OK, then I will keep 7 year old down here and you go clean your room by yourself so I know you won't be mean to her"
she decided to live in harmony with her sister....it was pretty funny (not really..I hate back talk!) even more than that...I hate when they say they are "JOKING" about their backtalk...I am lilke it is NOT funny and I don't have time for that foolishness...

That was a good one! I need to use that when it comes to cleaning up messes and someone starts saying..."that's not mine, I didn't do that." Well, neither do I half the time and the house is my job to clean :)

One of my biggest pet peeves is that parents are not teaching manners to their children. When children learn to be polite all kinds of unhealthy behaviors just seem to never manifest. You are doing such a good job raising your children - when they grow up they will call you "blessed" and they will bring joy to you. It is hard now but the payoffs in the future are worth it all!!!
